Commemorating D-Day 80

On the evening of 7th June at Bodmin Beacon, Bodmin Town Band were pleased to participate in the commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings. Although somewhat chilly, it remained dry throughout and the band played both before and after the proclamation by the Mayor and the lighting of the beacon at 9.15pm to a well wrapped up crowd.

It was an opportunity also for the band to show off their new jackets. After Remembrance Parade in 2023 saw them all soaked to the skin, it was determined to seek something more robust. With help from Bodmin Town Council’s Community Chest, M.A.D. Bingo and Persimmon Homes, the jackets were bought from and embroidered by local business Wovina Limited.
