Grateful for Persimmon Homes funding
From Persimmon Homes Website:
Bodmin Town Band are the latest recipients of Persimmon Homes’ Community Champions scheme.
The five-star builder’s Cornwall & West Devon business donated £1,000 to the band following their successful donation.
The band, founded in 1927, are a group of volunteer amateur musicians who have worked hard in achieving Championship status recently and, as such, represent Bodmin across the region.
The donation will help cover the costs of touring, complementing the fundraising events of the band, which currently has around 25 members, the youngest of whom is only 12.
Their Annual Christmas Concert will be held at 7:30pm on Friday 15th December at St Petroc’s Church with Bodmin Way Community Choir, with adult tickets priced at £7, with concessions available for over 60s and under 17s.
Persimmon is currently applying to build at a new site opposite the existing Priory Meadows development in the east of the town, bringing 527 much-needed high-quality homes for local people in the area.
The five-star builder donates £24,000 to good causes and much-valued organisations across Cornwall and West Devon every year, with local recipients including Cornwall Air Ambulance, the Museum of Cornish Life, and Shammy Rovers Youth FC.
Commenting, Persimmon Homes Cornwall & West Devon Sales Director Jane Cartwright said:
“We’re very happy to be supporting a nearly-century-old Bodmin institution like the town band as part of our Community Champions scheme, and congratulate them on their new Championship status.
“Beyond providing much-needed high-quality homes for local people, like we are doing at our forthcoming Bodmin development, it is important to us at Persimmon to demonstrate our commitment to the areas in which we are building through leaving a positive and lasting legacy.
“That is why we are always keen to do what we can to help great organisations like Bodmin Town Band so current and future residents can continue to enjoy their work.”
Charlotte Goatman of Bodmin Town Band, added:
“We’re grateful to Persimmon for their support and are delighted that we were successful in our application for funding.
“We were thrilled to have recently returned to the Championship section and this donation will help fund our touring costs as the Band showcase their skills across the region.
“Bodmin Town Band is made of dedicated and talented musicians that love to bring joy through our music, and any support that we get to make that easier for us is always much appreciated.”
